Oldsmobile Toronado (we had one of these, but it had dark red leather interior and was a very good and reliable car!)

One of our neighbors (and a good friend of grandpas) that we lived next to in the early 1980s bought one of these brand new with the convertible type top (but it wasnt a convertible). I remember it was such a beautiful car. I think it was around 1981. I was 5 years old, but thought that car was really something else. After leaving grandmas one day, I drove by the old home place not too long ago where I lived from 1981-1985 (most of the neighbors we had still live there, as does the older man with the Mirada) and he still has that car setting in the driveway. The red paint is all faded now, but looks like it would shine back up. Still a nice looking car in my opinion... almost 30 years later. It was strange to see that same car 30 years later in the same spot I remember seeing it when it was brand spanking new!

Lincoln
What about the Ford Thunderbird's and the Mecury Cougar XR7's of the same era?
You got it! (I was going to do another and compare the Thunderbird with the Monte Carlo though).
Mercury Cougar... (1983) - could not find photos of the 1981

I would have picked the Lincoln first, since the lines are classic. Now, I do remember some of this generation Eldorado and they were very nice, especially in the Biarritz trim. Now, if it had been a covertible Biarritz, well, that might have just slightly edged out Lincoln for my choice.
There's a nice Eldorado from that generation that's owned by an older lady who lives near me that is absolutely pristine and babied, since she has other vehicles. When she's not driving it, it is under cover in her garage. The car has a name too, but I cannot remember it, though it's something along the lines of "Miss Ellie" or "Miss Lulu," and I think it was toward the end of the run of that series, perhaps an '84 or '85.
The Imperial was the best looking luxury coupe of the era and a very well built solid automobile. The Mark VI was the most advanced "high tech" and very well built as well. The Eldorado lets just say it was a nice luxury car.
Out of those listed, I'd probably go with the Lincoln. But if you were giving me a choice of other personal luxury coupes from 1981, hands down I'm going with...
The 1981 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme

The 1981's waterfall grille was the best of that era G-body Cutlass, and the car had clean lines and a sharp body. My dad had an '86 when I was a kid, and I hope to have one of these someday too.
