What would utilities run/mo (approx avg) on a 3-4000 st ft new home?

I know there are a lot of variables, but approximately what would this run?

I keep my current house about 76 in the summer and 72 in the winter.

TIA

My guess: about $150 a month electric except in summer when it would go up to $400. Gas: $200 a month. Water: $85 a month depending on family size, lawn size, etc. This is based on my bills and scaling up.

On a new home ... not sure. Our house is older. We have new windows but the attic needs better insulation, and the garage isn't insulated at all. I know we could be more energy efficient, and newer homes tend to be tighter in that respect. Our house is somewhere around 2800 square feet, so a bit smaller than you are looking at. We also keep our house around 68 in the winter and 78 to 80 in the summer.

Your electric bills will be high in the summer, because of your A/C, and your gas bill will be low. In the winter, your bills will be the opposite: high because of gas heating, low electricity. We have "level pay plans" for gas and electric, so that our monthly bills are more stable. (This works best for us. Some people don't like to "lend" the utility companies money, and that works for them.) Our electric is about $150 a month (but that is combined with water, sewer and trash here), and gas is about $65 at the moment. The electric average is recalculated yearly and adjusted, and the gas is readjusted every six months, I think. In the winter our gas bill is around $90 per month.
