Will be in Schaumburg from December 24 to the 28th. Need eating options especially for the 24th and the 25th. I expect most places to return to usual business hours from the 26th... Also, if anyone has any ideas for activities for an active 5yo girl, that would be a great help. Thanking everyone in advance,
Rick

A lot of restauarants in Chicagoland are open Christmas Eve and even during Christmas Day for lunch. There's a Chinese restaurant in the Radisson Hotel on Algonquin Road as well that is open 365 days a year.

For activities, if you are from out of town, check out Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg. It is one of the three largest in America. Lots of stores and restaurants. There are movie theaters all over Schaumburg as well.

Thanks for the info. We will be trying to find one of those open restaurants. Aren't all malls closed from afternoon of the 24th and all day the 25th? Haven't lived in the States for 23 years now... Kinda losing touch..

Woodfield closes early on Christmas Eve, I think around 5pm. It is open on the 25th as well, but also closes early. Chinese restaurants are open 365 days a year. Things in downtown Chicago are open both days as well. Michigan Avenue is hopping on Christmas Eve Day.

The Brookfield Zoo used to be open New Years Day. Check about Christmas. That could be a fun activity.

I could be mistaken, but I believe The Cheesecake Factory at Woodfield Mall is open on holidays.

There are dozens of places open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. A good number of the Indian restaurants are open as are most Chinese restaurants. Several of my friends always go down to Chicago's Chinatown for dinner on the holiday.

The key to dining out on Christmas is to plan early and get reservations. A number of places have holiday menus. You are a bit early at this point. In a month or so, look over on LTHforum as they generally post lists of restaurants that are open on the holidays.

Thanks again Chitown. I will check into the zoo. Is the mall really open on Christmas day? We love going to that mall. That would be a great way to spend half Christmas day.

Thanks Gramirez. Once again, CF is one of our to do things while we are in the Chicago area. Can anyone verify the mall is really open Christmas day?

Thanks JLawrence. I have a Chinese American friend in the city. I have already shot off am email to him. I think I will change it to which restaurant he recommends. I will definitely make reservations though. Thanks for the tip. What is LTHforum?
