Hey all. Likely moving to Grayslake... thinking about a job in Cary. Will this be a brutal commute? Or will this be tolerable? Any input is appreciated!!

I guess it is all relative to what type of commute you are used to...but it would be about 40 mintues give or take...but the good news is that it would be a reverse commute for the most part so it should be pretty open consistently.

I can deal with driving about 45-60 min. (tops!!). Also considering jobs in Chicago... would take Metra then!! I just wanted to know if Grayslake to Cary is the usual burb traffic: start-stop, only go about 20 mph. the whole way, etc! Any other insights from those who often commute between these places? (or areas relatively close/similar)

One important thing about this part of Chicagoland, is there are no freeways!
In fact, I read that McHenry County is the largest county (population-wise) with no freeways! So your commute will consist of many stoplights, school-bus stops, etc. So if you have patience, you will do fine.

Why don't you just move to Cary? If that is where you are going to work, why commute? I was visiting a friend in Barrington and we were in Cary. It seems like a really nice area.
