I am thinking of relocating to Forest Lake which is a part of Lake Zurich. I have found a home that I love there but do not know anything about the city.

Lake Zurich is a nice, safe, town (not by any stretch of the imagination is it a city) I am not familiar with Forest Lake, maybe someone else can chime in on that. Shopping is plentiful and what you dont find there will be a short drive away. Some nice restaurants as well. The "downtown" core is very small, located near the lake,with some older buildings. There are several strip malls, big box stores etc. I have never heard of any "bad" areas there. Lake Zurich is a usable lake with a busy beach area for locals. They have summer festivals and a really nice newer YMCA with great programs for kids.
