I am looking for an apartment to rent in the St. Charles/Geneva area and can find very little listed in the papers. Does anyone have any idea on where to find some listings? Thanks!

Did you look on craigslist? Also some realtors have apt. listings.

Checked Craigslist but not a whole lot there either. Thanks for the suggestion though.

You would actually have better luck driving around & seeking out for rent signs - these are bedroom communities and while there are some apartment complexes - there arent as many as you would find in Elk grove or Elgin. Often folks out here are renting homes or townhomes since apartment bldgs arent quite as numerous.

Check the Fox Run apartments - decent space and right on Randall road across from a new Costco. 145 Walnut Drive
St. Charles, IL 60174-1537
(630) 584-9200

on the higher end there is the AMLI development - they have a website: Luxury Apartments & Furnished Corporate Housing - AMLI Residential
Most of the smaller complexes usually stick a sign in a window or a sign on the lawn showing vacancy - so again - you'd have to drive around the area to see whats available.

Lastly - check the classifieds associates with the Daily Herald newspaper - some of the older landlords tend to still use the newspaper advertising PLUS the Daily Herald caters to my area.

Lots of nice apartments in the area to choose from. Id stay away from Fox Run, though. They have some idiots in there who like to pretend theyre gangbangers. I believe there was even a stabbing there many years back. Its not a ghetto, but I wouldnt recommend it. There is a smaller, hidden little cluster of apartments right there on Oak St, I believe theyre called Charleston Park or something like that. Id recommend those over Fox Run. You also have AMLI, but theyre kinda pricey, and right across the street from teh Swift-Eckrich meat packaging place, so at times there can be a funky smell.

Check the Fox Run apartments
I'm going to save you a lot of time and hassle. DO NOT check out the Fox Run apartments. I stupidly moved in there after relocating from Iowa. It was the absolute worst place I have ever lived, and I ended up moving out three months early (and still paying rent because I couldn't break my lease) because it was so miserable. My car was broken into weekly, my actual APARTMENT unit was broken into, and management is terrible. The hallways reek, and after the weekend there would be beer bottles littering the hallways. Check out the reviews on this place and you'll see I'm not alone with my experience. Fox Run Apartment Ratings, Reviews, Map, Rents, and other St. Charles apartments for rent from ApartmentRatings.com

I'd recommend getting a copy of the Beacon News and checking out apartments that way.

WOW - I never knew the Fox Runs were ...well..err..run-down. Like I said - the "complexes" arent as frequent once you leave Elgin. Depending on your budget - look into renting a small house. St Charles / geneva have cozy / smaller homes from yesteryear that may suit your needs too. The plus side is that they may be better maintained than those in the surrounding areas too. A 100 year old house will show its age - but in St charles/geneva they've aged gracefully...

lastly - check Batavia too - its right next door!

DADASGIRL--no worries! They look ok from the outside, and the sq. footage is good, and they're in a good area. They are not good, though!!!

Dadasgirl has a good suggestion. Depending on what you're looking for, you may be able to find a nice apartment in a 2 or 3 flat near the downtown in either St Chas or Geneva. You won't necessarily get the amenities of a large complex, but you could find something a lot more charming.
