Potentially relocating to the Chicago area. Go Bears!! My work would be based in Bloomingdale, IL. Where are the best family places in and around Bloomingdale? Family of 5, with 3 kids 7 and younger so schools are important, shopping, and safety. Probably will rent for a while and price range is $2000-$2300 / mo.

Thanks for the help!

Bloomingdale itself is a great town.
Lots of shopping, good schools.

thinking of surrounding towns.. probably the only 2 I would not live in is Glendale Hts [I lived there for 3 yrs - and had no problems, but it's just my opinion] and Hanover Park.... again, just my humble opinion.

Easily find a place for 2000/mo. You can try Camden apartments, we lived there when I went to GBN High School. Lovely place and safe.

I like Stratford Lakes subdivision - see if you can rent there.

I would be careful trying to shop on price alone for rentals in any part of the Chicago region. Schools districts vary widely in quality and a few extra minutes of commute time / few more dollars per month of housing costs can make huge differences.

Northwest portion of DuPage Co vs other parts of eastern Kane or just over the Cook Co line can have very big impact on taxes too...

tons of home for rent so skip the apt rentals. Bloomingdale is nice we do all our shopping there. Look at Carol Stream, Wheaton,Roselle, Bartlett,South Hanover,

IMO, just stay away from School District U-46.

U-46 really isn't that close, I don't think anyone has recommended Elgin or any of the other towns that are in U-46.

I agree with many other posts. I would start with Bloomingdale itself. It is very close to expressways, so you can enjoy many of the great things the suburbs have to offer...ie, not too bad a drive to Brookfield zoo, and other attractions. Also, not too long a drive (not in rush hour) to go downtown. Bloomingdale itself has a lot to offer from shops to restaurants. Start there, and then you can branch out if you are not finding what you are looking for. You can also look at single family home rentals in addition to apartments.
