Thanks chet! Lots of good information.

Did you see that dip in Metra ridership a couple of years ago? Yikes.

That dip in Metra ridership was surely the result of the economic recession.

Wasn't that around the time when gas dipped as low as $1.85/gallon.

With gas the way it is now I predict the ridership will go up. Unless people are willing to pay the $4.23/gallon for their SUV every other day!!

People w/o jobs downtown don't take trains.

People who work downtown don't drive just becuase gas prices fall -- it costs a fortune to park downtown and the congestion is brutal.

The performance of the public schools is an acknowledged factor in the desirability of one town over another. It is also acknowledged ad nauseam that south suburban schools are generally under performing. May I respectfully request that you clarify your reason for comparing AYP test results in every single thread that even mentions the words "south suburbs"? Maybe you should just start your own thread.

.
The problem with the south suburbs isn't the schools, crime rates which are relatively low, or anything else. This area would be fine if the crabs in the barrel would just get lost and move on. There is plenty of room still available in northwest indiana or will county. Why is it that the overwhelming majority of schools in the south suburbs have 90 percent plus african american student bodies, but we are hearing mainly whites from the western suburbs and northwest indiana constantly complaining about them? I was just pointing out the facts and how the schools actually compare.

Crete Monee High School is 30 percent white. University Park is just as much a part of the eastern Will County area as Peotone or Monee. (Southern Park Forest is also Will Couny). To pretend that University Park is some kind of seperate area is racist. I'm not sure WHO it's racist against but that's my story and I'm sticking to it...

Allen might not come to my neighorhood but I'm in his like every other day. ;-)

Sorry for offending those who live in the far southern suburbs in will county. But you get my point. Love it or leave it man. Even folks who live in englewood don't complain this much now.
