I am considering taking a job that stipulates that I live in either tinley park or orland park and would be working in these areas as well as south chicago. are there any excellent sources of information regarding these locations? are they mostly suburb, family type residences or is there a young crowd as well (i am 24). generally speaking, how much is rent in these areas?

Folks on this forum would have you believe that very few young people live in the southwest suburbs. And yet the dozens and dozens of stores in Orland Mall geared towards twenty-somethings seem to beg to differ.

I will admit that you will be disapointed if you're seeking a signicant "young professional" crowd. More like young people who still live at home or young people renting an apartment close to thier hometown.

Both of the cities you've named are beautiful...Not much of a "young crowd" in Orland or Tinley unless you walk around the Orland Mall all day long looking to mingle. Most of Orland Park are Middle Aged families with kids.
