Looking at some homes on the south end of Wilmette and wondering what kind of noise and traffic impact we can expect from Ryan Field, Rocky Miller Park and Wells Field.

If there is an impact, is it seasonal? How much of the year? Thanks!

I know several NU alums, those that graduated when the football program was respectable would be happy to be within "marching band" distance of the field while those that graduated in years that the program was a joke tend to be anti-athletics...

Compared to any other Big 10 school the crowd very sedate. Even with practices and such the noise is not much of an issue, and Evanston has very restrictive traffic routing.

Probably not worth getting too worked up over.

I live about 1-1.5 miles from Ryan Field in Evanston. I've never noticed any traffic problems related to sporting events. Usually the only reason I know it's a home game is that I'll see students walking around dressed in purple. As long as you don't live right on Central, I don't think you should have any traffic problems.

Have you gotten any further feedback on your post? I was wondering the same thing - I saw a really cute house in south Wilmette (maybe we are looking at the same ones!), but it was only a few blocks north of Ryan Field, etc. It seems to me there would be issues with parking, traffic, noise (even without rowdy fans), etc., but I have no idea.

Ryan Field only has events on occasion in the Summer. The events (mainly Football games) are almost always in the morning and afternoon. Homes near Ryan Field are considered desirable. Being near Central Street, closer to the lake, Purple Line, Evanston Hospital, etc. is very desirable.

Traffic problems in Wilmette from Ryan Field? You don't want to drive around Central ave Evanston on game day, but that's a very different street from Central in Wilmette.

There's no reason anyone would drive through Wilmette to get there unless they live in, basically, Kennilworth/Winnetka/Northbrook/Glencoe.
