Frankfort is still a very nice area- they are imporiving u.s route 30
which will help eleviate some congestion.

I love Frankforts downtown area and its small town charm we love going to the farmers market there in the summertime

Frankfort is ideally located within easy distance of great shopping, parks, and wonderful schools.

Albeit Frankfort has taken a hit due to the housing crash but for the most part people down there take pride in their homes and keep them nice and well kept.

I will always give Frankfort a thumbs up

I'm not sure where in Frankfort he/she is looking, but it does depend on the part though. For example, I personally wouldn't move into Frankfort Square (on US-30 like you mentioned). And I also would pass on the subdivision adjacent to LWN HS. Other than that, I too would give it a thumbs up. Frankfort is very diverse in housing, with some millionaire houses (RIP Bernie Mac ), to middle class, to lower middle class.

Mokena has a great location, transportation wise. Right by 80, 355, and 57. A 30-40 minute to the Sox park, 20-30 min to Joliet (except for recently with 80's widening) and 20-25 to Naperville, for example. Nice area. Taxes are ridiculous though. Of course, Frankfort too is pretty accessible to 80 & 57.

Default Illinois RE Taxes

The taxes suck. But, in Illinois your Real Estate taxes stay in the county where you live. Where I live my real estate taxes support public schools, WIC, Head Start, hospital, county emergency services, library, county and township roads and bridge maintenance, parks, county court house, public health services, and more.

The one thing I learned about moving between states is that not all health insurance policies cover services for out-of-state hospitals or doctors. Not all states have great public health services, either.
