I've heard that Clarendon Hills, unlike Naperville and Hinsdale, has a relatively short (2-3 months) Metra parking wait list for CH residents (not non-residents). Can anyone confirm if this is the case? I called the Police Department (which handles Metra parking permit applications) and they wouldn't estimate a wait time. Thanks for any help.

I can confirm.

I was able to submit an application in November for a 1st quarter permit without any problems. This puts you in the spaces on Burlington avenue. The lot next to the station has a waiting list that you automaticly get on once you have a Burlington permit.

I take the 6:43 train downtown and am one of the first 5-10 cars parked when I get there around 6:30. No parking issues at all.

I'm assuming that you have to be a resident of Clarendon Hills, correct?

Technically the parking is NOT exclusively for residents, though pretty much every resident does "covet" the spaces in the main lot vs the spaces along the tracks. Realistically the additional block or two adds under five minutes of walking, but since we're talking about a town where 95% of town is a ten minute or less walk from the station everything gets distorted...

The Lions Club has a lot that is closer to the West Hinsdale station and that is an excellent option for those for whom that schedule will work, in all honesty the distance from West Hinsdale to Clarendon Hills stops is so close that anyone who is not handicapped ought not care.

There are probably too few people that know about the daily meters in Clarendon Hills and / or don't like the hassle of manually shoving a dozen quarters into the ancient things, but those are also a possibility for non-residents. Hinsdale is expanding their automated meter system to the West Hinsdale stop to capitalize on the under utilization of such spaces along Hinsdale's stretch of Burlington Ave.

Agreed. If you sit in the last car, the walk from the CH stop to just NE of the West Hinsdale stop (Chestnut and Bruner) is precisely 11 minutes (about 5 minutes between stops).
