We would be charged a flat fee of $80/month for a 2 BR unit in joliet west (Black Rd /Larkin Av) ? Is that normal? Also, heard there are some issues with water pressure in the area....is that true?

Sounds like a lot....for $80/Month, just buy the water yourself to drink, and bathe in pools, ponds and lakes. The Cal Sag has a natural "soap" feel to it.

A flat fee sounds weird. Don't know anything about water pressure.

I do know that severe boredom will likely set in once you live in Joliet though.

OP - Sounds like you discovered one of the newly crappy things about Joliet. Things that were heavily subsidized by the once flowing revenues of the gambling boats are no longer so. My MIL/FIL live in Joliet, and they told me about the water prices too. It wasn't always that much.

What's strange is that you're being charged for water. Are you living in a house/townhome/luxury condo? I've only paid for water once in my life - a luxury rental community in Romeoville.

Not sure about water pressure in Joliet
but is this a charge from the land lord
maybe he or she is trying to squeeze a little juice from the rent

seems high

sometimes water, trash pickup is lumped together at that rate it still seems a little bit much

When renting a house, the landlord usually passes all associated costs off to the lessee. Legally, I believe the landlord has a duty to provide you with all recent utility bills and statements so you know what you're getting yourself into.

Also, if you're curious about the water rates and such, do a search on the Herald News website. You can find all kinds of dialogue about pissed off people from the area.

here is the sad part the water utilities are not really heavily regulated by consumer groups that much

just another way for a municipality to stick it to the general public with a rate hike-

guarantee you - you will see more villages towns cities hiking water and trash rates just like the insane city stickers
