We have been looking very hard at the above 3 plus other inner ring suburbs. Affordability right now seems to rank:

1. Park Ridge
2. Elmhurst
3. La Grange

Park Ridge currently seems to have far more distressed inventory and far greater drops from peak pricing than La Grange and Elmhurst. I'm curious why such the great disparity.

Makes perfect sense. Park Ridge home prices went up to far greater highs than Elmhurst and La Grange. The higher you go....

I too think that the inflationary pressure in PR was greater than in someplaces like LaGrange or Elmhurst. Part of that also has to do with relative range of lot sizes and "external negatives" (like O'Hare...) that do make some parts of PR considerably more desirable than others. That said there are really no parts of PR that I personally would not consider at the right price, well built homes eliminate pretty much all rumble. Of course if you want a universally peaceful back yard that takes some careful selection.

Wow, Chummy, Vlajos and Chet all in agreement -- tell satan to setup the snowboards!
