I'm curious if Orland Park has any neighborhoods where one can walk to a few local restaurants or shops, without living near the busyness of LaGrange Rd.? If so, I'd like to check it/them out.
Thanks!

Well, technically there are somme retail shops that you could walk to from the 143rd St Metra stop, but the configuration of SW highway is not really conducive to the sort of strolling / window shopping that you could do in say Downers Grove or Glen Ellyn...

I seem to recall that once upon a time there was plan to try and make that area more "pedestrian friendly" but the forces of economic turmoil being what they are I rather doubt the vacant land will be developed anytime soon...

Orland Park is strip mall surburbia with ever chain store and resturant you can think of. So no, you won't find the same quaint walkable window shopping as you might in say Homewood.

Thanks for the 143rd St. station tip, Chet. And Sunny, thanks for the link-it gives nice descriptions of the area as well as future plans for it.
