We will be moving to Naperville in June of this year. We are being offered a weekend to do experience Naperville and look for areas to live. We have 2 little girls (4 and 6), so we are looking for a nice (family friendly yet cool) place to stay. Also, if anyone has any suggestions on what to do while we are out there, these are very welcome! thanks all!

Most of the motels and hotels near Naperville tend to serve business clients and some "banquette" type functions (weddings , reunions, even sports related stuff). If your kids like indoor pools some of the places have those, but overall Naperville does not have a "Mall of America" type venue and weather (though goreously upper norms today) can be unpredictable...

When you say "family friendly yet cool" I really don't know what sorts of things what fit into a weekend visit. The DuPage Children's Museum is a nice choice for indoor 4 year old fun that might also hold the attention of a 6 yr old. Are hoping to take in some "cultural" type event? That mmight be harder.

When are you coming? It's unseasonably mild right now but it's still cold for people who aren't used to it. And there's not enough snow right now to do the fun outdoor stuff. The Riverwalk is excellent for families, with parks, playgrounds, swimming, and paddleboats, with several places close by to get ice cream, candy, or a sandwich ... however, the "season" doesn't start until Memorial Day weekend. There's a parade and it's very fun to see. Before then, there are some activities (I'll try to post them later--can't from my phone now) but summer and fall are much more active.

As for family-friendly hotels, we always like Hampton Inn and Courtyard Marriott for being clean, comfortable, and accommodating. We have three kids and so always need another bed. We also like places that have pools and free breakfast. There are a bunch of hotels at the north end of Naperville, off Diehl I believe.
