Yeah, and actually coming from the Woodfield Area of Schaumburg, one can probably drive about 3-4 miles northwest and pick up the Union Pacific Northwest Line out of Arlington Heights. That train line is generally quicker & more reliable than the Milwaukee West line that picks up closer to the Elgin-O'Hare / Irving Park Rd. side of Schaumburg.

Thanks so much for all the information. My sister told her boss that she definitely would not move to Gurnee. So they said that they will either send her to Schaumburg or some place called Vernon Hills.

Which is better? Do both have quick access to the city? Could she get around without a car at either place? Let me know. Thanks.

Default Schaumburg Metra

Take Springinsguth Rd. south to the end and there's the train station, right past the minor league baseball stadium for the Schaumburg Flyers. My $.02 - Schaumburg over Gurnee for someone in that age bracket. Everyone above is saying the right things - Gurnee has somewhat of an older population, and since you're not a teen anymore Six Flags isn't such a great draw, right? But during the summer Gurnee's traffic becomes a madhouse because of it and their mall. Yes Schaumburg traffic sucks to commute to Chicago (and just around town at times also) but the train is great for that. Besides, with all the entertainment Schaumburg has, you don't necessarily even need to go downtown.
