I just received my rate for my 2012 Home Insurance Premium and was quite shocked at the level of increase. I have a high end home insured by Chubb. I didn't have any claims this year and my rate went up by about 18%. Are other people in the area seeing crazy increases in their policy? My understanding is that the insurer sets the premiums based on the geographic location so I'm guessing this is based on all the heavy rains of last year but even still this premium increase seems excessive.
