I grew up in that area, specifically off of Mt. Prospect Rd. and Golf area. (plus or minus)
How does the area compare now to then?
When I lived there, I knew all of my neighbors for about a mile radius. Everyone was so nice. When my next door neighbors moved in, my mother baked a cake and brought it over to welcome them to the neighborhood.
Is this a thing of the past? Do people still care about one another? Is there still good friendships in the area?
Thanks for any info you may have.
Oh, and I moved to the Phoenix area. It sucks here, in case you were wondering.

Just remember, time changes, people don't. Sure you will still find friendly people here. You can find friendly people anywhere if you look for them. As for how the area looks; it is just more built up and congested than anything. We still have the same roads as we did before, 294 is busier than all heck, tolls now are 80 cents vs. 40, IDOT is widening 294 in the DP area to 4 lanes on each side vs. 3, Golf Rd. still looks the same, Dempster is still the same, everything is still the same. Basically the entire area still looks about the same as it did 20 years ago since most of the town was built in the 1960's and 70's.
