Are there any decent apartments within walking distance of the Main St. Metra Station in Evanston?
My budget for a 1 bedroom is around $1000 (hopefully with some utilities). We will probably need street parking (if it's safe enough) and a place that allows a dog (35lbs).
How nice is this area? I know that some places more southwest aren't so nice..
Also, can full-time students get a reduced monthly metra pass? My boyfriend will need to commute to the OTC station on weekdays.
Thanks!

The Main Street Metra Station is southeast, not southwest.

There are apartments, but I am not sure whether they would fit your budget. If you give these folks your email, you can get more details about the apartments and prices. Buildings on Hinman around Main are nice. I lived there years ago.

The Main Station Apartments at 855 Hinman look nice, but are a bit above your budget, I think
There are also apartments at 860 Hinman. We lived around the 700 block of Hinman and the el and metra were within easy walking distance of those too.

The discounted metra passes are only for grade school and high school students, btw, not college students. At least I don't see any college passes on their website.
