Hi everyone,

We are looking to move to Warrenville and have found a home we sort of like and needed some input. What is the area like? Crime?! How arethe schools..property taxes, entertainment etc? Does anyone have thoughts on the new construction there by Orleans homes? (maple terrace ct)

Thanks !!

Its a very safe area. I believe they go to Wheaton schools which is one of the best. The new Hubble Middle school is one of the most beautiful schools I have ever seen. My son attended Hubble before the new school was built. There is not too much happening in Warrenville itself but its a good location from several standpoints. Wheaton is literally five minutes away with shops and restaurants. Naperville is also very close for stuff. Warrenville itself has Cantera which is has many shops, a movie theater and quite a few restaurants. Also Warrenville has easy access to I-88 which is the gateway to go pretty much anywhere in the Chicago area. Basically I think you could do a lot worse than Warrenville. I prefer Wheaton myself but I think Warrenville could be a good choice especially if you found a home you like.

Also Warrenville is surrounded by beautiful natural areas and forest preserves. Cantigny and St. James Farm is nearby, Blackwell and Herrick Lake, as well as the Morton Arboreteum and the prairie path.

My wife has worked at two different locations in Warrenville before and the water was disgusting. She said the water smells like sulfur and even while washing your hands in the sink it changes from clear to yellow to brown a few times. It wasn't just one time, but every time she gets sent there which is a few times a year. You need to check that out when looking for a place there.

I believe there are portions of Warrenville that are supplied with Lake Michigan water but a significant portion of the village's water supply does come from wells. Wells in the DuPage aquifer can have some flavor / smell issues...

Wouldn't a whole house or kitchen filter or reverse osmosis system solve this?

Warrenville is an interested place. It is well situated. The only thing I have noted is there seems to be less a feeling of community there then in some other locations(but that is relative). It seems more like a bedroom community to me than the hometown type of feel. I have a few friends who live there and are fairly gregarious and slightly regret the move. But that is only because they were from a city that had that hometown, everyone knows everyone type of community. They hope to move to St Charles or Geneva if their real estate prices recover. Those communities have a different feel to them. Personally I like to be detached frmo my neighbors, so I would probably like Warrenville.
