In an area that is generally "crapped on" (verbally) by the greater Chicagoland area, having an isolated incident in even a suburb that is not the worst in the area will still have the greater implication of people thinking "see, it even happened in THAT south suburb which is further out than Harvey, etc.!"

It may (irrationally or rationally) confirm fears that violent crime in the southland is not as concentrated to certain areas as others may have believed. Or it could be just taken for what it is: an isolated incident.

I guess it will be a "majority rules" situation on how people think about this incident.

That makes no sense. I wouldn't be surprised if Allen has never even BEEN to west suburban Cook County - much less lives there. He admittedly has only been to Indiana and the other side of 57 a handful of times. You know, twenty minutes from his house.

Allen lives in Olympia Fields and grew up in Homewood. He also spent a few years living on the north side of Chicago where he met his fiance. He apparently knows the city quite well and has traveled to other counties.

Me and Allen are from the exact same area as far as this forum is concerned..

Let's just hope this is an isolated crime.

It was not to long ago the person was shot in nearby University Park
I am referring to the person who was shot because their dog urinated on
the persons lawn.

If you really think about things the south suburbs are heavily populated and it appears at least on the surface the homicide rate is low compared to other places in the nation.

One SouthLand community that has me concerned is Sauk Village, I am not even sure they report the crime that goes on in that place.

If by "they," you mean the police then i think you are absolutely right. I know there has been people shot dead in the Village and the news says nothing either.
