Um ya. There are hundreds of corporate offices in the suburbs. Probably more office space than most major downtown cities. Rosemont has multiple high rises and corporate offices.

"The suburbs" is a nebulous term. Which subset of the suburbs do you prefer? Employment centers in the north suburbs include Deerfield and Lincolnshire. The Northwest, Schaumburg, Elk Grove and Rosemont. To the west, Oak Brook, Downers Grove and Naperville. To the south, East Chicago and Hammond.

What is your job training or post elementary education? You will find Chicago is extremely expensive compared to Connecticut. I saw some facts last year about Chicago employment. There are 5.000 applicants for every job opening advertised. Factually, if you are minimum wage you will have a very hard time.

Default Very true!

Among other midwestern states the diversity of employment in the Chicago region and good press that comes from things like stories about communities with strong employment growth are attracting more folks to region in search of work.

Without a specific skillset / career path I would strongly discourage relocation due to our relatively high cost of living.

What kind of jobs? McDonalds burger flippers or CEO of Navistar? (I hear that both are hiring.)

Default Good job growth in other areas too...

Aurora and Bolingbrook both have had pretty solid job growth. Much of it is in the fairly well paying warehouse area.
