Grew up in, and just moved from, Roselle. Nice, middle-class suburb. Two Metra stations (Roselle and Schaumburg). Not a ton of commercial development, but you're 10-15 minutes from two regional malls (inc. Woodfield). Also, easy access to the interstates via the Elgin-O'Hare expressway.

Default Family oriented and safe, mid-class Chicago suburb

I'm partial to Wheaton. Good schools, more parks than you can shake a stick at, nice downtown and two METRA stations.
