This thread is helpful! I am moving to OP this spring and will also be commuting into the Loop. (Just bought a house!) I will be about the same distance from the green and blue lines. Is the blue line as crowded as the green line? Is it faster? I currently take the Metra (live in Evanston now) and I love it. How much are monthly parking passes at the lot near the Metra stop? Thanks!

The Blue line is more crowded and a tad faster but not a blow out(i.e. maybe 5 mins difference). Metra is fastest to the loop(but may not put you off as close to your place of work and not as frequent as CTA). Can't give advice on parking passes but can say there is a Pace Buse route that connects Blue and Green line stations on Harlem.

Which one you ride will be decided by which one gets you closer to your workplace (since you said you live equidistant from Blue and Green). Don't get distracted by people trying to scare you with stories of "colorful" characters. Riding the Green or Blue won't be an issue.
