I know tons of people who have done that. But I don't mind being called a kook. For the record, principals or front office staff never batted an eye. I suspect it is pretty common these days, especially in the cohort coming from Chicago.

I didn't start getting homework until 4th grade, though I remember we wanted homework so that we were more like the big kids. Homework in kindergarten seems a bit early. We were rehearsing the alphabet in kindergarten, not writing essays nor doing too much in mathematics.

Homework is not busy work which in my opinion it seems to become lately. But I was also told that homework is because teachers can't cover all the material during the day that is on standardized testing.

I did not have homework until 3rd grade. I think Kindergarten and 1st grade should absolutely be left alone. Kids do need physical activity and we wonder why kids are fat. They are inside doing homework.

Or we can all move to France which I think does not have homework. But maybe the grass isn't greener over there either?
