It is my husband and myself and I do not need to worry about schools, but we do like to go to a pub and listen to music as he is only over from Ireland for two years.

Working at Great Lakes opens a lot of options, anywhere from Milwaukee's East Side and Third Ward to Chicago's Wicker Park or Ravenswood or Rogers Park, to any of the suburbs in between the two cities, or even flat-out farm areas or small towns of southeast Wisconsin. So we need a little bit more info on what you're after to narrow it down a bit. How long a commute are you willing to tolerate? Does it make a difference if the commute is by train or car? Do you need to live in a more urban environment or would a suburban environment with convenient urban access be sufficient? Looking to rent or to buy, and in either case, what is your rental/purchase budget? Any other factors we should take into consideration?

Downtown Libertyville and Grayslake have several nice bars. I don't know of any with an Irish theme though. Gurnee is chock full of restaurants, and nearly all have cocktail lounges with varying degrees of entertainment. All communites are very close to Great Lakes, have nice housing reasonably priced and good schools.
