My husband is considering a job in Chicago, we live in Seattle, and would love info on Country Clubs out there. Here they are very expensive, $60,000 at least to join. Are there any good family clubs out there? Most here are golf only, but we would love one with pool, tennis, etc. I imagine we would live in the North or Northwestern suburbs. Thanks.

There are many clubs around Chicago with those amenities. Not that I belong, but last I heard the joining prices do start about 60K

Thanks - I was hoping the clubs were cheaper in Chicago. There seems to be so many there, I thought some might be affordable for us, but $60,000 and up is not what I consider affordable. Oh well.

Hi! Having grown up in the 'burbs along the north shore, I will tell you from personal experience that most all of the country clubs are private and by invitation only.(you probably already know this!) 60k is LOW.
My husband's family belonged over the years to Evanston, Michigan Shores in Wilmette and Glen View Club and all were towards the higher end, financially speaking. I do know, from friends that belong to North Shore Country Club, that membership is in the six-figure range and that is without the assessments, etc.
But, there are some really nice bath and tennis clubs like, Valley Lo in Glenview, Willow Inn Club in Northbrook, that are much less than a traditional country club, but have very nice settings. Good luck!

Conway Farms, Royal Melbourne, Wynstone & Hawthorn Woods are "for profit" clubs that anyone may join. Fees vary for golf vs social memberships. As Katgrrl state private CCs are by invitation only. if that is what you want you'll have to move here first and make some friends.

A social membership is much much less than a golf membership. In a private club, it would run under $20k. Much less in a for profit club.

I agree that Royal Melbourne is a great Club, also look at Hawthorn Woods CC - very young membership age and no-interest financing of initiations
