Seriously, is that really relevant?

In my opinion/experience, the easiest way to avoid section 8 is to rent from an individual person and avoid a large complex.

Actually, considering Chet lives in Hinsdale, is an ex-realtor and only see's value in hard data (apparently only when convenient)... it Is relevant. Plus the OP asked for specifics, not guesses, so being that Chet is the self-proclamed expert on the area, and only lives by data, I figured would have posted data. Considering the low amount of section 8 in Hinsdale, I didn't think it would be that difficult to point out the specifics. After all, it's not exactly difficult to avoid poor people in Hinsdale.

I don't live in Hinsdale. I do know there are a few hundred rentals units that do accept Sec 8., I have helped folks needed relocation / temporary accommodations get units in some of these complexes. I have to give a "thumbs up" to folks that despite needing assistance in their rent do track down excellent school districts for their kids. I don't know why the OP asked about avoiding Sec 8., but they did not ask about just Hinsdale. I warned that there are significantly more units that may have "Hinsdsle" in their name / mailing address, and some of these are less than quiet / do not have the kind of concerned parents that tend to make good neighbors.
