Hi all,

Could you guys share some insight on the weekday traffic on I-88, going east in the morning (from Naperville) and then merging onto 290E (will be taking exit 17A for Manheim Rd South) and the coming back east in the evening?

Thanks.

You know what the bad thing is it's not predictable. Some days you'll fly and otherdays it will take forever. This used to drive me crazy because going to work you think I hate to get there a half hour early, however on the days you say I been flying to work lately I'm gonna leave a little later today that's the days it takes you a full hour to get where your going.

You're in luck. Usually I-290 jams up just after the Manheim Rd exit. And they divert the traffic to Manheim just as 88 is merging in to 290, so it's pretty easy to exit there before everything jams up.

I only drive it a few times a month, but usually I just fly going east on I-88. I imagine that there are times that it could be bad (like rain or snow storms), but I don't typically have a problem until I hit 290, and usually it jams up just as I round the corner after ramp from Manheim.

I second that. A few years back I frequently drove it and was happy I was exiting at Mannheim, as I could see backups ahead. Of course accidents will throw a monkey wrench into it.

You should be OK. Even if things are backed up before Mannheim, you can dive off at York Rd and take Roosevelt or Cermak (22nd st) the rest of the way.
