I may be getting an internship at Franciscan St. James Health in Olympia Fields, and I'm trying to rank the site's appeal factoring in the location and living expense. Is there a relatively safe neighborhood to find a 1 bedroom apt. or studio, maybe 500 sq. ft., for under maybe $800/mo, within a 30 minute drive of Franciscan St. James? Thank you!

You'll want to go south. As far as I know Olympia Fields is still decent but a lot of nearby suburbs are becoming ghetto.

Homewood, Flossmoor, Tinley Park, Orland Park, and Frankfort are where I would start.

Homewood and Flossmoor would be cheaper, Tinley, Orland, and Frankfort will cost a little more.

Living in Olympia Fields itself would be fine, but it probably doesn't have many rentals. Tinley and Orland are where you'll find the bigger apartment complex-type rentals. Homewood and Flossmoor tend to be more condo/townhome/private landlord type rentals.
