Does anyone take the Pace bus from Plainfield into Chicago? I am wondering how much time it takes for a one way trip, also I think it can ride on the shoulder?

Yes I know about that. Let me rephrase the question. I am asking if anyone takes it and if it arrives on time. Also does anyone recommend the best way to get to the loop from Plainfield for an 8 - 5 job?

Here is the GPS aided "bus tracker" -- TransitMaster WebWatch - Ada Departure Times

Here is the schedule: http://www.pacebus.com/pdf/schedules/855sched.pdf Seems really inefficient to sit on a bus for nearly two hours with few good options, honestly if you have a car and leave that early you would be flying into Chicago.

Seems like this is really trying to help folks with few other options: Pace bus-on-shoulder service on Stevenson/Interstate 55 set to expand - Chicago Tribune I applaud the efforts of Pace to try to make it easier for folks that have moved out to the farther away suburbs to get to jobs closer in but this does not seem like a good option for those you want efficient service.

Thanks Chet. I rent in Plainfield and looks like I will have to move when my lease is as the commute isn't doable for me.

I know that the bus from Plainfield to Chicago will be a fairly long ride, roughly an hour and 15 minutes, even being on the shoulder. Why not consider the train as an option, especially in the morning you can avoid all the rush hour traffic and most trains in the morning are express(very little or no stops).
