We are a young couple currently leaving in Chicago and working in downtown. We are trying to buy our first house. My dream house type is a small ranch style house with a decent size of backyard. We are tired of the city and we definitely want to move to suburbs but we need some help we want to have a family in the future and want schools around and family neighborhood. Our house budget is about $200K

I was looking at Lansing but I see that the commute would be my only problem during winter but I love the houses around there
Any suggestions??
Thanks!!

Lansing is low priced becuase it is not particularly desirable, especially if one works near the Loop.

You would probably have more luck commuting via the BNSF from a suburb like Broofield; here is a nice brick range well within your budget -- 8829 Burlington Ave, BROOKFIELD, IL 60513 | MLS# 08504643 | Redfin
