I think you bring up a very valid point. Not to get too off-topic and all that, but what you said is true. I saw a thread the other day where a Pakistani person was asking where he could live where he could be around his people, and got lots of suggestions w/o anyone thinking twice. But if youre white and ask to be around other whites, youre branded a racist.

If you said you wanted to live near other Italian-Americans or Poles to be around that culture, restaurants, markets, etc, I don't think anyone would call you racist. But if it just sounds like you DON'T want to be around other races, then that would be considered racist by most people.

I'm not trying to stir up an argument or anything, but perhaps it's because some of these folks have the impression that the vast amount of the communities in the USA are predominantly white. Hence they feel the need to scope out areas where there will be at least a few others that look like them. They probably assume that white folks never need to worry about this since the assumption is that the USA is still majority white. Of course the truth in 2014 is a bit more complicated than that. Also, some of these folks making these posts are first generation or new to the country. They didn't necessarily grow up with mainstream American culture & don't yet feel fully assimilated.
