I only had my license for about two weeks but I am 18 I don't know if this would make a difference. Basically I didn't slow down as nearly fast as I should of at a stop light which led to me rear ending a van and then he rear ended the guy in front of him and so did the other guy. I know it was my fault so I will go ahead and plead guilty, the biggest damage came from my car and no one was hurt in the accident. I got a citation from the officer and I am a bit nervous as to what will happen. I know it was my fault any advice? Will my licence be revoked?

I am assuming you had insurance and reported the accident to them? They essentially take care of things. They will ask for a detailed description of the accident, and will call all people involved. You should confirm with your insurance where you will get your car repaired and how to manage payment, if you have coverage for your car repairs (collision). You will likely be responsible for at least a deductible payment, even if you have insurance.

Chances are your insurance premiums will go up because of this accident. So if you are on your parents insurance currently, they may not be pleased. Be prepared for losing driving privileges of your parents' car if they are pissed (!), or having to work to pay for the increase in payments etc.... but we don't know you or your parents.

You don't lose your license for an accident like this. Just pay your ticket, if you received one.

I was T-boned by a drunk driver who almost killed me, and he didn't even get his license suspended for a day. That's America! It takes a lot to lose your "right to drive".

Tell me about it. If you ever want to kill someone... do it with your car. You will either get a slap on the wrist or a few years at most.

Thanks for the reply the car is mine and it's insured. I don't have to worry about parents one of the bittersweet benefits of living alone I have to pay for it but I handle my own problems.

How long ago was this? I thought they do suspend licenses for this kind of stuff now?

Show up for your court date. If the officer fails to show the ticket will likely be dismissed.

If you decide to go to court, dress business casual ... that means for guys no sandals or athletic shoes, black or other dark-colored socks, dress pants or khakis, no jeans, a nice shirt with no gaudy patterns, corporate logos, or decorations. Don't wear a hat to court (the bailiff will tell you to remove it), and get your hair trimmed before you go. For young women, same thing: business casual. When you answer a question by the judge, say "yes sir" or "yes ma'am", and don't get argumentative or show anger. Leave your cell phone in the car or turn it off ... and do NOT text or talk on the phone in court. Cover the body art as much as possible, and tone down the body piercings.
