Hi ,
we are shifting to Schaumburg from India .we are in search of a good Indian Community Apartments @ Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates or in that near by area. Good schools around etc.
I would like to know whether any have idea about good crowd of Indians/maharashtrians where my kids can get Indian friends.

My major concern is good school for my kid who is in grade 7. If he have Indians friends in the class/school then it will be easy for him at the starting period.

Thank you .

I don't think there are necessarily "Indian communities" in the suburbs but there are quite a few Indians that live in the area. Mostly here with one real exception there are not Indian communities. Most Indians live interspersed in suburbs. Schaumburg/and Hoffman Estates has quite a few Indians as does Naperville, Westmont, Oak Brook and Lisle.

Schaumburg is a good community. If you are working around there its best to be close by, there are some Indian stores and restaurants too. Also you might look into Arlington Heights and Mt. Prospect. They are not too far. Good schools there. Also lot of shopping and a big shopping mall called Woodfield.

Good suggestions. Look in Palatine too.

Thank you friends ! I got information that my work place will be at Elgin. I check the school ratings are too low in that area. In such condition which area should I think to live ? I am okay with the driving around 30 mins (one side).
My main concern is good school and safe area for family. Indian locality will be advantage specially for my kids.

Thanking you in advance for your support !

There is a part of Elgin west of Randall Road that doesn't feed into the Elgin school district. It's Central School District 301. It might be something to look into since it will be a short commute for you.

If work is in Elgin then I would look at the parts of South Elgin that feed into St. Charles schools. I would also look in St. Charles.

I would stay away from Elgin for living. I would look in Bartlett, Il. Hoffman Estates would not be terribly far away and might be a good choice too. I am told that South Elgin is nice but I really don't know much about it.
