This is pretty bizarre. I've lived in Wilmette since 1983 and I have yet to be grilled by [someone making]* an awkward inquiry on finances, if you mean asking about my finances rather than seeking advice on their own finances.

Everyone here has been very polite, including those who are not particularly outgoing or friendly.

They are, with the exception of Gurnee, the least desirable of the northern suburbs, lower median income and worse schools. Gurnee probably gets lower marks because of the theme park. There are a few others like that but they are too small to attract attention.

I don't see how a theme park and a mall can make an area less desirable. If anything, it should improve it. I think the schools in Gurnee might be the problem.

Just look west, you can't go wrong without just about any burb. There used to be a debate between the north and the south, I lived in both, then decided middle ground was best , I was right....long ago.

I will pick Winnetka over any other suburbs if I could afford it. Unfortunately I don't have the money... lol... My mom live in Park Ridge, but the country club. That is also another nice neighborhood.

I've lived in Lindenhurst all my life.

It's a great town, a bit pricey to live, but crime rate is virtually zero.

We're currently renting a house in Lindenhurst and I had all four of my tires slashed on Christmas Eve. Awesome.
