I have a friend who is thinking about moving from the south side of Chicago to the suburbs for good public schools. Could someone tell me how good are Fremd High School, Palatine High School, Vernon Hills High School, Buffalo Grove High School, J B Conant High School, Lake Zurich High School, and Comm H S Dist 99 - North H S? Also I got a some places of Realtor.com. What school district would these addresses be in; 7336 Winthrop Way, Downers Grove; 7315 Winthrop Way, Downers Grove; 1963 Cheltenham Drive, Hoffman Estates; 1963 Swindon Place, Hoffman Estates; 1675 Islandview Court, Hoffman Estates; 1971 Cheltenham Place, Hoffman Estates; 1971 Haddam Place, Hoffman Estates; 1253 Innverary Lane, Palatine; 324 N Schubert Street, Palatine; 1195 E Candlenut Lane, Palatine; and 414 Fernwood Court, Lake Zurich. They are looking for a 3 bedroom house or townhouse in a good school system for under $200,000. Also what would the commute time to downtown Chicago be from some of these areas?

Well they have not decided that they are going to move. It depends on what they can find.

Is there any sort of lookup engine for street adresses and school districts in the Chicagoland area? That would be SUCH a major resource to have.

Here's the Illinois Report Card lookup website, so you can compare test scores at least. Also, Chicago magazine ranks city and suburban high schools each fall - I believe their November edition has that information.

There's a website that will tell you the school district(s) a house is in, but not the specific schools in that district. http://factfinder.census.gov/servlet...50&_treeId=420 Enter the address and click "go" and it will give tons of info about that address including the school districts.

I can help you with some of these addresses though. The two on Winthrop Way in DG are in Darien SD 61 with Downers Grove South HS. 1253 Inverrary Ln and 1195 E Candlenut Ln go to Lake Louise Elem and Winston Campus JH in Palatine SD 15 with Palatine HS. 324 N Schubert St goes to Sanborn Elem and Sundling JH in Palatine SD 15 with Palatine HS.

go to the sites listed above for school reports --once you find a school(s) you are interested in then look at their boundary maps. All schools post their boundary maps on their websites--

or contact a Realtor and they will set up a search based on your criteria-- location, price, address, subdivison, school district, age of home, exterior of home, style of home, number of bedrooms, number of baths, basement criteria, garage criteria, etc.-- this is one of many things Realtors do.

This is a big job to ask the forum-(and without a please or thanks to boot) its info a good realtor should have or get. Realtor.com usually lists the school dist for the house.

That's not true. I can think of several districts that don't - CHSD 155, D102, D181, and I know there are many more. It would be nice if they all did though.
