Thanks for all the replies!

I'm working on a paper map since it doesn't seem like there's pre-done source.

Just for the record, I meant 30 minute train time to the loop, and that includes places within the city as well.

To make your map awesome I suggest including both driving and Metra….

Also would be nice to provide express and regular service along with approx how many/frequency pulse… some areas have less express options.

This map would have helped us tremendously when we moved here...

Yes it is possible to find rides on Metra that are about thirty minutes. They involve either the closer in suburbs, or the express trains which are really limited. There is a " Wheaton rocket" that was mentioned in an earlier post but that is a one shot thing, so it you miss it its more like forty or forty five minutes. Again, add in time on both ends to get to the station and to work and you are looking at a commute in excess of thirty minutes. Even people in the city proper have long commute times....the buses are pokey and the L's can be crowded and not necessarily near where you live.
