Explain the elaborate Hindu temples here in the burbs (some of the biggest in the USA!) that are smack dab in the middle of conservative-ville then. Im strongly conservative, and have absolutely NO problem with people of other race nor religion moving into my neighborhood. You should learn not to be so stereotypical. And are we supposed to believe that alllll liberals are welcoming to other races or religious beliefs? Hardly.

Will people be welcoming to me and especially my son as we are a first generation immigrant.
I would be very surprised if they were not welcoming. And I think Wheaton is an excellent choice.

Your concerns are valid, but I have to agree that "conservative" doesn't mean unaccepting. You'll find that most people in the Chicago area may have their certain personal beliefs/religions etc..., but welcome differences. People are educated and not small-minded. You'll be fine in Wheaton or any of the surrounding suburbs.

Again, I'm not being stereotypical. I said that not ALL conservatives are so welcoming. I'm not saying that ALL liberals are welcoming either. I am relaying information based on experiences that some Indians have had in some burbs. Again, I'm not saying this is Wheaton or naming names, but to suggest that ALL burbs are welcoming because they have temples is absolutely not true, nor is that that all people are as open minded as you. Might the OP be absolutely fine in Wheaton? Sure! However, since they are first generation they might enjoy living in a burb with a stronger Indian presence. I am not engaging in this debate and am sorry if you were offended. I was just suggesting that I understood the posters concerns.
