I'm working in North Schaumburg. My husband is working in Hoffman Estates. We're planning to have two kids in 4 years. Which place should we consider for buying a home? (prefer relatively new homes)

Thanks!!

What is your price range for a home? That will help us give suggestions.

I'll sell you my house. I live in Essex Club right off of Plum Grove Rd between Higgins and Schaumburg Rd.

Was one of the last new developments in Schaumburg. We built the house in 1998. Great area and we have the best neighbors.

We're looking to relocate to TN.

My price range is around $350000 - $450000. I've looked into Hoffman Estates. There are some new homes over there. But the school seems not very good. We don't have any kids yet but we're concerned about resale value. Any comments?

It might be a bit far for your tastes, but have you looked into the new areas of South Elgin? You can definitely find something there for that price, and you can take Randall to 90 to be in Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates in no time. Maybe a 40 minute commute at most. I make the run from South Elgin to Schaumburg in 25-30 minutes on average. If you do go that route, someone can tell you where to live so that if and when you have kids, they can go to St. Charles' good schools. Just a thought...

South Elgin might be a little bit too far for me since I work in North Schaumburg. I'm looking for places within 15 miles.

Hoffman Estates has a good school district if you can find something in their district. Most of the brand new communities in Hoffman Estates fall into Elgin's U-46 school district, which is not good.

If you are looking for newer homes, your best bet is to stay in the Woodfield area. Look mainly between the borders of Meacham, Schaumburg, and Roselle Roads. There are some newly built homes near the intersection of Schaumburg Roads and Meacham Roads that border IL Route 72 to the north. Schools are great in the Schaumburg area. It's a very lovely, well maintained community.
