Campton Hills especially because it's one of the most dramatic towns in the history of towns. It came to be expressly to not be part of Elgin.

Wauconda is rarely mentioned on CD, and quite underrated in my opinion.

There are plenty of "paper villages" out there that were incorporated to keep established municipalities from taking them over. Often after incorporation they contracted with the County for police patrol.

Oh not Campton Hills! The drama about their police dept. is a sight to behold. Quite comical indeed!

You never hear "Norridge or Harwood Heights" mentioned .....They being the 2 sister suburbs surrounded by the City and not annexed. I did mention Norridge once in a thread ... but never here it mentioned as suburban cities recommended or not by others. I have read Oak Park mentioned the most in the Chicago city threads and those the commuter train from Union Station goes to, in recommendations to newly transferred folk who have school age children, over Chicago proper.
