I'd skip most of the recommendations on this thread...some are too far away or are not that nice. St. Charles is nice but its a bit far and as I mentioned before its not on a main highway, a so called expressway as they are called in Illinois, so I would nix St. Charles unless you are going to work in that area and don't really want to go into the city very often.

I don't think north STC/South Elgin/Wayne are all that bad. There might be a little extra commuting time but I think the schools are a fair bit better.
