We've never bothered to take the train, simply because it takes way too long once you factor in the limited weekend schedules and coordinating two train lines. My husband and I already have monthly metra passes, so the train wouldn't cost us anything, but it's not worth the time. Plus, we have free parking a block away from the stadium, so parking for the games is really convenient for us.

It's certainly an option for anyone who doesn't have parking. Or if you were coming from the city already you could take the red/purple lines. The stadium is certainly close enough to the Central Street stops.

There's a lot of parking in Elmhurst. I don't drive most of the time, but in the winter when there's a lot of snow I do and I've never had trouble getting a space. It should be even easier this winter because the new parking garage on Addison will be opening this fall and it is going to have 690 spaces. So, parking is plentiful in Elmhurst.

As for getting a seat on the train I personally have never had an issue. I have only had to stand up 2 times in the 2 1/2 years I've lived in Elmhurst and both times there were significant delays so the train was way more crowded than normal. You aren't likely to get one of the individual seats on the upper level, but even that happens for me about once a week.
