I'm trying to locate high schools that are by metra stops. I currently teach at a high school that has a fairly easy highway commute, but I'm interested in finding high schools that would allow me to take metra instead of my car... So far, New Trier, Stevenson, Downers North and OPRF seem to fit the bill, but I was hoping that there might be more... anyone know of other high schools that might work?

Lyons Township North Campus (Juniors and Seniors) is right on the Metra off the Stone Avenue stop. Morton West in Berwyn is about a mile from the Harlem Avenue stop. Another school to consider would be Riverside-Brookfield high school. It is pretty close to the Hollywood Metra stop. And if I remember right, Naperville North is less than a mile from the Naperville Metra station.

FYI, the Metra stop nearest to Stevenson is on a line that doesn't have many trains, and the earliest train out of Union Station in the morning reaches that stop a few minutes after the first bell rings at Stevenson. It's not possible to commute to Stevenson by Metra, and if it was I'd be doing it instead of complaining about I-294 all the time

I know Glenbard West is just North of the tracks in Glen Elynn. I'm not sure how far the station is though, but must be bretty close.

Lake Park East Campus [dist 108] is about a half mile from the Medinah stop. though you will have to cross Irving Park Road.

I think that New Trier is very close to the "Indian Hill" Metra stop just south of the main Winnetka stop. Some of the students even use it to take it home to other parts of the township such as Wilmette, Glencoe and other parts of Winnetka. If you happen to live near the Ravenswood Metra stop in Chicago, your Metra commute to New Trier will be very fast & easy!

According to mapquest, Lyons Township North (LaGrange) is about .65 mile from train stop, Highland Park High School is .6 from train station, Lake Forest High School is about .7 from train station.

As another poster said, Indian Hill metra stop is very close to New Trier Township High School, only about two blocks.

I don't know how many blocks .65 miles is, but LT North is 2 blocks from the La Grange-Stone Ave Metra stop.
