Where are the current IT Tech Centers outside of downtown Chicago?

More specifically, what are the best areas for IT (Information Technology) jobs in the Chicago area outside of downtown?

Also Schaumburg and, to a lesser degree, Buffalo Grove/Lincolnshire.

As is common, the politicians the laid the moniker of "Tech Corridor" upon I-88 were fairly clueless. While there was a period that the expansion of ATT's old Bell Labs coincided with the explosive demand for new wired and wireless phone infrastructure that was relatively brief. What drove the efforts of IT mavens in the region to expand quickly was curtailed by the financial pressures that drive Alcatel to acquire Lucent and a large portion of the old ATT network hardware group.

Similar pressure saw explosive growth of Tellabs and major retrenchment. If one hits their careers site now literally ONE vacancy is listed and it is in Dallas -- https://www.tellabs.com/careers-eng/

The reality is there are not any particularly interesting tech jobs along I-88, in fact even the once might "128 corridor" around Boston has seen much of the true start-up activity shift to inner harbor or Cambridge locations -- https://angel.co/boston/jobs

In the Chicago region there are almost certainly more generic IT jobs in Lake Co helping maintain the sales info systems for companies like Walgreens, Abbott, or Baxter but whatever startup activity is truly happening in either Loop/River North/West Loop locations cannot hold a candle to Silicon Valley or even east coast areas.

Tech is not restricted to start-ups. Business centers like Oak Brook, Schaumburg, Naperville, Lisle, Rosemont, and the I-294 North corridor carry a number of tech jobs.

IBM is in Schaumburg. The CA development center in Lisle is consolidated from three independent mainframe software companies which were originally based in Rosemont, Oakbrook, and Lisle, then acquired by Long Island based CA.
