Well ... damn. I suppose I should never leave my house then (actually, I live in East Village/Wicker Park, so perhaps I'm safe there)

The garage part I agree with, if you leave your garage open, you'll have problems, but I know many women who, while being streetwise, etc, are not afraid to venture out after the sun goes down, and have never had any problems with that whatsoever.

His rant was disingenuous and nothing more than trollish. It seemed as if his/her feigned anger was just an attempt to inject something into this story that has no place.

Isn't that strange? I've lived in my house on the south side for 20 years and our garage door stayed wide open many nights. It didn't really get robbed. However, when the door was shut, I lost two lawn mowers!

Manigault, firstly, I'm sorry you have been personally touched by these murders. I hope the family and friends (including you) of the woman you knew can get through this in tact.

Secondly, whereabouts did you live on the south side? It seems that you and I may have picked out the only two safe spots. j/k

that's something else that really bugs me about this incident. I've been inside little mom'n'pop shops that were barely 400sf that had cameras in every single corner, yet this large store had none!? I'm wondering if lawmakers should create some type of law making it mandatory for any store larger than a certain size to have at least one working security camera. I have a feeling that guy has been in there before, knew the store had no camera and knew it was usually slow in the morning/weekends. maybe this guy shopped there w/ a girlfriend or got this info from someone else

and another thing, I personally would love more info about this guy instead of a block of paragraph about his hair! look, interviewing barber shops and hair braiders is a waste of time! most black men don't go to salons to get their hair braided, it's usually done by a female relative or a girlfriend or a hair braider working out of her home. I've had my hair braided on and off for over 15 years and had it done at a salon exactly TWICE (and these were more complicated, tiny braids, not easy cornrows). hell, unless the design is really difficult, a lot of guys can cornrow their own hair! I guarantee you this guy is not walking around with green beaded, cornrowed hair any more (unless the guy was mentally off and lacks the sense to change his hair, but I somehow doubt this). can we get some real descriptions about this guy, like distinguishing facial features, noticeable scars, etc. it seems like it is taking a long time for a sketch to come out

I agree, they do seem to be dragging their feet putting out the sketch. And you are right, he probably has changed his hair. It's still good the description of his hair has been so widely publicized (even though he probably has since changed it) because maybe someone who knows him and knew he had the cornrows and green beads around the time of the murders will turn him in. There is a sizeable reward for info leading to his arrest, hopefully that will coax someone who knows him into turning him in.

I agee, stores should legally be required to have at least one security camera.

So, anyone else want the governor to reinstate the death penalty?

I think Tinley is working on making that a rule/law within the village right now. Hopefully the guy they arrested is him.

I'm all for this creep getting the death penalty. Did they get rid of it in Illinois?
