We will be moving to Downers Grove and look for options on parking at the nearest train station. Will will be catching a 7:00 train and husband catching 8:30 train. Can you park on the street as I know permits are tough to come by and free parking fills up fast. Looking for options

This is not definitive, but street parking is either limited to 2 hours or on further out residential streets it is regulated, often to 4 hour stays.

I think Downers Grove has commuter parking lots and they probably have day spaces but they go early. I recall Taking the metra from Downers Grove once and that is what I recall. Its almost impossible to do street parking because they are restricted as mentioned above.

Additionally, the reserved lots (at least at Main Street and one stop further away from the city -- so you can still catch the express train) have a wait list of anywhere from 4 to 6 years. The stop closer to the city has more parking available, but the train takes from 12-20 minutes longer.
