Village of Skokie Elected Official's Salary... (Evanston: city hall, home, living)

Well I need to do a presentation for class, and part of the presentation is including the salary of the elected officials, the only problem is I cant seem to find it on the Skokie web site. I'm sure im just not looking hard enough, but could someone point me in the right direction?

I believe this is something that is public information, but I can't find it anywhere either. You should be able to call city hall and ask them and they should be able to tell you.

Call skokie public libraries reference desk and ask them to get the info for you. It's all public information. I bet they make way too much for what they do. I worked there for 4 years in the 80's and just driving thru that city on the way home from Evanston made me sick. Skokie has really gone downhill. Such a shame to see.

Fill out a FOIA (Freedom of Information Request) and submit it to the Village, they have to provide the information to you.

if you can't find it on a website, you should be able to get the info with just a phone call. it should not require a foia. Salaries for local elected officials really varies everywhere. In our town of Sugar grove, it started at $3,600 and increases by the cost of living each year. so, now it is probably around $3,700 or so. the village president gets substantially more than trustees. hope this helps!

It SHOULDN"T require a FOIA, but some places are more cooperative and adherent to the public's right to information than others. I once had to fill out a FOIA for the weather policy at our municipal pool, probably becuase they wanted to stall me while they made one up. Your public library will know the best route to take to help you find the information, if its not easily come by.

Village of Skokie employee salaries are printed every year in the Skokie Review as a classified ad. The employees are listed in a random order in a very fine print so it is very hard to find a particular person. There was an article in the Skokie Review of 9/13/07 that listed the salaries of the major village employees--here is the text of the first couple of paragraphs of the article from the Skokie Review from the library's subscription via Newsbank. Salaries settled for key village officials

Trustees last week unanimously approved salary hikes for the village manager, deputy village clerk, corporation counsel and assistant corporation counsels for the current fiscal year, which began May 1.

The board also approved salary increases for the next elected mayor and Village Board, effective following the April 2009 election.

Village Manager Al Rigoni will make $160,613 -- a 3.75-percent cost-of-living and $2,561 merit-pay increase -- effective retroactively from May 1 through April 30, 2008. The village will also pay $54,469 to a retirement compensation plan for Rigoni.

Corporation Counsel Patrick Hanley will receive $133,925 for fiscal year 2007 -- a 3.75-percent cost-of-living and $1,763 merit-pay increase from May 1 through April 30, 2008. Also, $14,204 will be paid to his retirement compensation plan.

Just noticed that your question was for elected officials--here's the info. from that article dealing with elected officials:

Under the current ordinance, Mayor George Van Dusen makes $26,500 in fiscal year 2007, and will make $27,250 in 2008, and $28,000 in 2009. The next mayor elected in 2009 will make $29,050 in a first term, $30,100 in a second, $31,150 in a third and $32,200 in a fourth.

Since May 1, 2005, compensation for Village Clerk Marlene Williams was set at about $63,766, with cost-of-living raises each year. The new ordinance sets the next elected village clerk's salary at about $70,872 with cost-of-living raises in fiscal years 2009 and 2010.

Trustees make $7,208 this fiscal year, and will make $7,412 in 2008 and $7,616 in 2009. The next elected trustees will make $7,902 in their first term, $8,188 in their second, $8,474 in their third and $8,760 in their fourth.
