no new reailers that i have heard. A new doctor just opened his office on municipal drive across from the library. I heard that an eye doctor is supposed to open in the Landings across from jewel. The Book Nook Cafe has opened in the new Library on Municipal Drive. She is open with breakfast items, lunch items, coffee, specialty coffees, salads, soups etc. It is run by The Catering Gourmets.

My wife and I are going back an forth negotiating an offer on a beautiful property located in Settlers Ridge. We understand the current situation of the subdivision, but feel that the community will eventually be completed and be a great place to raise our kids. It might take 3 to 4 years....
Our kids are 9 and 5 and just want to confirm that there are plenty of children in this community.

Thanks for any info.

Drive through the neighborhood on a weekend to see who is out and about. Are there kids at the playground? Do you see swingsets in the yard or bikes on the driveway. That will tell you if there are kids in the area. Check with the local school to see how many kids are picked up on the bus route there. I'm not sure if that neighborhood goes to John Shields or McDole Elementary but I'm sure they can tell you "X" amount of kids come from that neighborhood. In 2007 they changed some of the school attendance areas so I'm not sure where they bus those kids now. SGResident may know more since she still lives out there. I left SG a few years ago. Good luck with your negotiations on the new house.

I am at a disadvantage as my son is in high school, so I haven't kept up with the elementary school boundaries. I know there are kids out there, as I have seen the bikes etc when driving through. it is a beautiful sub. and the neighbors who are there, really do love it. I heard that many of them were out pulling weeds, etc. around the sub. signs. Everyone is hopeful of a positive resolution. Good luck on making your decision. You could always check the kaneland.org website for school boundary info. Plus, the park district in sugar grove has really grown over the years and has a great agreement with the fox valley park district about having resident rates for programs etc. Plus, the new library is now open as is the new middle school on harter road. a lot of positive things..

Please do not feel bad for the Settlers Ridge residents. Although it saddens everyone the subdivision has not come to fruition YET, we are very much a community. When Kimball started the community they were building street by street, so thankfully the majority of us have neighbors, with very few homes being off by themselves.

We do have parks, trails, and beautiful common areas. Many of us do take pride in our community and have been keeping up on the landscape areas that are affected by the Kimball bankruptcy. They village is even helping where they can.

As for kids, there are a lot of kids ranging in age. We live in one of the TND homes (home with an alley), just drive thru my alley on a summer day and you will see all the kids out playing. The kids go to McDole and the new Kaneland middle school.

And yes, we would recommend buying in Settlers Ridge. If your looking to establish roots in a family freindly envioroment, this is the place. Good luck with your negotioations...hope to meet you soon.

Yes there is a new eye doc coming to the Landings, he's one of my neighbors in Settler's. Look for his practice to open around December.

I am so happy to hear the good news concerning settlers ridge. I know my wife and I loved the neighborhood/community when we visited and almost decided to build there. We didn't, but not because we didn't like it or because the trouble had even a hint of being around the corner. We had been in our community for 18 years and just decided to stay and build here(Wheaton). We definitely did not get as much home for the money settlers ridge was offering, even at the prices then, let alone now, but I am happy it is all working out. Sugar Grove sounds like a great community willing to help their own and that's a great sign. Good luck with the negotiations. And I'm not sure which home you are negotiating on, but there are several custom homes by various builders and some are bank owned and such an incredible deal, it's amazing! You will, undoubtedly, end up with a great home in a great community! Take care and let us know.

In short, the association includes care of the three parks and the common areas, snow removal of the alleys, lawn care of the townhomes. However those who live in the townhomes or on alleys pay more so those who do not receive those services pay for them. You can contact Melinda at Property Specialists (847-806-6121) in Rolling Meadows for more complete and accurate details.

I hope everything works out for you and your family!! We have been in settlers ridge since november of 2006 and love it here. Yes everything has not gone as planned but it will eventually happen-there are tons or kids in the neighborhood , I myself have 4 kids ages 3,4/12,8 and 9. My section of the neighborhood alone has about 25 kids and many more throughout! My 9 year old has been having weekly football games with the other 9plus year olds across the neighborhood! I love the quaintness of our neighborhood and the "front porch" living..we use ours all the time!! Good luck and hopefully we will cross paths one of these days!! We live by the Big park!!
